Career Skills

Ross' career has had a diversity of experiences, which has led to his having a unique perspective. He has had core skills learned with each experience and built on them with each successive position. This sets him apart from the crowd.

Position
Al-Majal: A college internship in Washington, DC, Ross worked with people from multiple nationalities (Palestine, Egypt, and Syria), gaining valuable insight in understanding cultures outside of the one in which he grew up. ​
Skill Set
  • Learned the sensitivities of content given the audience you are trying to reach. 
  • Learned the fundamentals of page layout and style.

Politics: Ross worked as Campaign Manager for County Executive, State House, and State Senate campaigns and served on Gubernatorial and Auditor General campaigns. 
  • Learned the value and power of database marketing and segmentation especially as it related to targeting and budget management.

Legislative Liaison: He served in the local office for two consecutive state representatives in Northampton and Monroe counties in Pennsylvania.  
  • Learned and exercised conflict management.
  • Researched topics to inform public policy, forcing him to consider the impacts of proposed legislation.
  • Public speaking skills were honed as he spoke at events in which the Representative was unable to attend.

Writer: He wrote articles for a weekly community publication owned by the daily newspaper focused on local events. 
  • Identified relevant topics for the audience.
  • Wrote on a regular and consistent basis.

Broadcaster: Ross provided play-by-play and color commentary for HS wrestling and football on both radio and television, as well as for Lehigh University wrestling.
  • Planning and scripting for a two hour live event.
  • Effective public speaking.
  • Conducting interviews live and recorded.

Director of Administrative Services: Hired into a newly created position responsible for Athletics, Transportation, and Facility Scheduling. 
  • Reinforcement of conflict management skills.
  • Logistics and reimbursement based on efficiency of bus routes.
  • ​Event management and scheduling.

Program Manager: Hired by a non-profit association serving pharmaceutical marketers with training, development, and executive education, along with two primary fundraising events.
  • Developed a database to serve as the association management solution, which required business requirements solicitation, and training.
  • Managed membership, which placed a heavy emphasis on communications
  • Assigned select events to manage, plan, market, and contract with the facility. 

Communications Manager: The non-profit created a new position and promoted Ross into it. 
  • Communications, relationship building, partnership development, and newsletter publishing and print production.

Founder: Ross created a hyper-local community blog serving the residents of the Nazareth Area School District in 2005 at the time 20% of people had read a blog and less then 5% wrote one.
  • Early adoption of social media.
  • Online community management.
  • Regular reporting, editorial writing.

Membership Manager: The non-profit created another new position following a 3 year decline in membership and assigned Ross to it. 
  • Relationship building, marketing, developing partnerships, and branding.
  • Management of registrations and renewals.

Associate Executive Director: Following the merger of three non-profits, Ross was hired to run the new organization.
  •  Budget, branding, staff management, volunteer management, strategic planning, and communications.

Manager: Ross partnered with Corey Lewis a then up and coming race car driver to assist him in transitioning from racing go-karts to cars.
  •  Marketing, branding, sponsorship proposals, contract negotiations, and public relations.

Business Manager: He was asked to assist a start-up non-profit, community center for the arts.
  •  Strategy, planning, budget, scheduling, promotion, marketing, and volunteer/board management.

Consultant: A local auto dealership hired Ross to audit a new CRM and optimize their website.
  •  Lead management, web site optimization, and email marketing.

Manager, eMarketing Strategy & Analytics: Ross was hired into a new role at Olympus' Medical Systems Group. 
  • Marketing Operations: project management, vendor management, policy writing, and internal communications.
  • Marketing Manager: online marketing strategy, database marketing, paid search strategy and management, social media monitoring, and mobile marketing. 
  • Analytics:  KPI development, benchmarking, and reporting.   

Trainee: Ross successfully completed the Project Management Certificate Program with Distinction from the University of California, Berkeley.
  • Project management, planning, teamwork, and remote working.

Trainee: He completed the Certified Scrum Product Owner course through the Scrum Alliance.
  •  Agile project management.

Consultant: Contracted to develop an online marketing strategy, tactics and templates for implementation for a pharmaceutical sampling company.
  •  Online marketing strategy, website optimization, SEO, and content strategy.

Project Manager: He was hired by an open-source, Drupal focused, web development company. 
  • Project management: sprint planning, retrospectives, budget, communications, planning, resourcing, invoicing, strategy and change order management.
  • Remote working: managing and communicating with domestic and international clients and resources.
